CalmParent is a communication assistant designed for separated or divorced parents sharing custody. It acts as an "emotional firewall" that rewrites angry or passive-aggressive messages into neutral, fact-based, and child-focused communication using the BIFF (Brief, Informative, Friendly, Firm) methodology.
Is my conversation data kept private?
Yes, absolutely. CalmParent is designed local-first, meaning your data is stored locally on your device by default. Cloud backups (iCloud or Firestore Backup) are completely optional and only enabled if you turn them on. When processing text with AI, we transitively utilize Google Vertex AI APIs, and Google does not use our users' data to train foundational models.
How do I cancel my subscription?
All CalmParent Pro subscriptions are managed directly by Apple. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your iOS device:
Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap your Name/Apple ID at the top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Find and tap CalmParent.
Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.
Does the other parent need to download CalmParent?
No. CalmParent works unilaterally. You can paste any message you receive from the other parent into CalmParent to draft a clean, calm reply, and copy the result back to your usual messaging app (SMS, WhatsApp, Email, etc.). The other parent does not need the App and will not know you are using it.
Can these rewritten messages be used in court?
CalmParent is specifically designed to draft replies that are "court-safe," meaning they are brief, fact-focused, non-combative, and polite. This prevents high-conflict exchanges that can negatively impact custody evaluations. However, CalmParent does not provide legal advice or represent you in court. Always consult with a qualified family law attorney for legal questions.
