Welcome to CalmParent ("we", "our", or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("CalmParent" or the "App").
1. Information We Collect
To provide our AI co-parenting communication services, we may collect the following types of information:
- Local Communication Data: Messages you type, paste, or import via screenshots to be rewritten or analyzed. This data is processed in real-time to generate suggestions. By default, this data is stored locally on your device.
- Account Information: If you sign in using Sign In With Apple, we collect your unique Apple user identifier and, if you permit, the email address associated with your Apple ID.
- Optional Cloud Backup Data: If you explicitly enable cloud sync/backup features (such as iCloud Sync or Firestore Backup), your message logs, settings, and parenting timeline events will be securely stored in our cloud databases to allow cross-device synchronization.
- Usage and Performance Data: We collect anonymous, aggregated telemetry data through Firebase Analytics (such as features used, crash reports, and app performance metrics) to help us improve the App's quality.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To analyze and rewrite co-parenting messages, calculate conflict scores, and summarize conversations.
- To maintain your account, sync your settings, and restore your data across devices (if cloud backup is enabled).
- To process payments and manage subscriptions via the Apple App Store.
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues or security vulnerabilities.
- To improve the user interface and functionality of CalmParent based on aggregated usage trends.
3. AI Processing and Third-Party Services
CalmParent utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to generate communication recommendations:
- Google Vertex AI: Your inputs (text or screenshots) are securely processed using Gemini models via the Firebase Vertex AI SDK. This processing is transient. Google does not retain your inputs to train its foundational AI models.
- Firebase & Google Cloud: We use Firebase Authentication for user accounts, Firestore for optional backups, and Firebase App Check for application security. These services comply with rigorous industry standard security protocols.
4. Data Retention and Security
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information:
- Local data stored on your device is protected using standard iOS file system encryption.
- All cloud-based data transmissions are encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL/HTTPS) technology.
- You can delete your account and all associated cloud backup data at any time directly from the settings screen in the App.
5. Children's Privacy
CalmParent is designed for adult parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
